We were served the fabulous Mint Tea, it was hot, good and I couldn’t wait for Mira to slice off bread from the big loaf she brought out. It was large, round and she held it against her apron grabbed a BIG sharp knife and began to cut with a sawing motion towards her. Lucia noticed and later commented about how she had seen the same scene on a tapestry from a Rick Steves travel video. It did seem scary to pull the knife towards her torso with that much force, Mira sliced off chunks of bread quickly and easily and we gladly ate them, hundreds of years of technique on display for us. This tapestry image from Rick Steves travel video dates back to the 1600’s and is exactly how Mira sliced our morning bread.
You may have noticed, there’s alot more going on in this tapestry and you’re right! Click here or on the link above to see the full length Rick Steves video explaining in great detail this and other tapestries!
